The Gothic cathedral known as La Seu is the main building of the city of Mallorca. The dome is located in the centre and overlooks the sea so look out for it when you walk around Mallorca and Palma.


The Castell de Bellver is a great 14th century fortress in very good condition and certainly worth a visit. It is at the top of a hill near the city and the views from and of it are absolutely fantastic. It was once a summer palace of the kingdom of Mallorca and was subsequently used as a prison but now it makes an interesting tour and a museum.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Espagnol is a place art lovers should not miss. This excellent museum of contemporary Spanish art houses works by artists like Picasso and Dali in more than 70 exhibitions in its permanent collection alongside some excellent temporary exhibitions. It is located in the heart of the city in an 18th century building.

The baths Banys Arabs in the medieval city date back to the 10th century. Although there is not much to see here, it is a nice stop on an exploration of the city, where there is a beautiful garden ideal for escaping the crowds of tourists. It is a wonderful place to relax, to just sit and refresh after a day of walking in Mallorca.
