San Juan is a peaceful village just 8 kilometres north of Alicante and, because of all the available and different types of transport available, the location is ideal for your HOLIDAY TO SPAIN. Alicante is along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in the Costa Blanca in sunny Spain. Nearby, divided into two parts is San Juan. San Juan Playa is the sandy beach: 7 kilometres long running north to El Campello from the edge of Alicante. And there is San Juan Pueblo, a picturesque rural village just a short walk inland. El Campello is a train spotter’s favourite hotspot; the narrow-gauge railway begins and ends in San Juan. A great alternative from the beach is taking the train whether heading all the way to Calpe or Denia or stopping off at Benidorm. Alternatively, take the tram that travels in the opposite direction to Alicante. Both are great places to spend the day shopping or other leisure activities.

The main reason why people choose San Juan for their vacation is the beach: miles of white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters and blue skies. On average with more than 300 days of sunshine, even winter time could have sunbathing days. San Juan though really comes alive during the summer with the aroma floating on the sea breeze coming from the many restaurants is enough to make anyone hungry. But if you’re not in the mood for a heavy lunch then take time out in the many little bars or "chiringuitos" that only open in the summer period.

Spanish people have little or no use for the old age pensioner homes that we have in the UK. The Spanish are so family orientated: when they go out in the evening you see the whole family out until late at night, young children in tow with old family members all out together. And San Juan is one of those places that you will see the Spanish families out enjoying their evenings. San Juan itself is such a family orientated town down on the beach there are all the available facilities from tourist information offices, the lifeguards on the watch towers, children's zones even a Red Cross Post.

Want to let off a little steam or just being a little more adventurous? Then join in one of the many volley ball games down on the beach, take out a paddle boat rent a dingy, water ski or go windsurfing. Everything you can imagine improving your holiday fun time is here and more if you can find it. Because the beaches are so long with so much sand there is very little in the way of hidden coves though so nowhere to hide from the thronging crowds.

Of course the other thing that the Costa Blanca is renowned for is its golf. The San Juan Golf Club, designed by the late Severiano Ballesteros, is very popular and there are many instructors available to help improve your game. This is what the Costa Blanca is famous for: white sand and golf balls. There are also many opportunities to visit places where the only way is either hiking, horse riding or on a 4x4 safari near San Juan just a short drive out of town. Head to Busot where there is an underground concert hall that was used during the Spanish Civil War as an aircraft hanger and a munitions factory, but is more famously known as the Cuevas del Canelobre. As you can see San Juan is definitely the place to go and enjoy your HOLIDAY TO SPAIN.
