When looking for a place to book your
HOLIDAY RENTALS IN SPAIN why not choose the ancient city of Murcia? This vibrant city is situated on the Costa Calida with over two hundred kilometres of beaches fronting both the Mediterranean and Menor seas. This area has a distinct variation in landscapes including lush green valleys only interrupted by desolate deserts. There are a number of small traditional fishing villages along this part of the coast where you can procure some of the freshest seafood available anywhere around. The world famous Club La Manga is just down the road a short drive. If you would like to get pampered and have a lot of Euros then visit this seaside resort. Murcia has some interesting architecture left behind by the Greeks, Carthaginian, Moors and Romans including places of interest.
If you are after a pristine beach and a choice of water sports then venture over to the beach resorts of Cartagena and Mar Menor as both of these resorts are watersports’ havens. Mar Menor is unique in that it has a double sided beach which separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor. The strip of land that separates these two bodies of water is known as the La Manga strip. The Mar Menor is a great location for windsurfing and sailing among other sports on offer. This beach is also safe for the kids to swim in as the sand gently slopes into the sea. Nearby you will find the resorts of La Manga Club, Loz Alcazares and the Polaris World Resort. La Manga is probably the best resort for sports and family holidays as it can offer golf, tennis, squash, crazy golf, pitch and putt golf, mountain biking, go karting, walking and a number of water sports.
Just across the road from La Manga is the mud baths, reported to be good for just about any skin condition. All you have to do is cover yourself in mud let it dry and then wash it off in the salt lagoon. To finish this experience off make a dash across the road after washing off and go for a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean. You never know it may be good for you; it’s defiantly worth a try.
Another place to put on your list for a day out is the village of Lorca. This little village is one of great contrast. It not only has a rich heritage but it also has a modern commercial centre along with eight kilometres of coastline backed up by a dramatic mountain range. If its history then look no further than here with its Roman villas, churches, palaces and a rich collection of art literally overshadowed by a hilltop castle there is enough to keep you busy on a day out.
When you arrive at your
HOLIDAY RENTALS IN SPAIN, take a stroll over to the baroque Cathedral de Santa Maria. This is one of the most important monuments in Murcia. If you would like to do a little more exploring Murcia is also home to the Almudi Palace and Castle of Monteagudo. Also if you are a nature lover the hills of Murcia leading down to the sea offer a good opportunity to go hiking, biking or pay a visit to the nature reserves.
