If you are interested in history, this area is full of ancient Cathedrals and chapels along with museums, historical villages and Moorish Castles, all just waiting for you to discover them. While you are on a history outing, take the time to sample the Catalonia culture and tradition that is different to that of the rest of Spain. The other interesting thing you will discover is this area has its own language and cuisine. You can even pay a visit to the cosmopolitan and sophisticated city of Barcelona, the capital of the area, with museums, sports, activities, shopping, nightlife and amazing beaches. Also close by is the ancient village of Figueres in the north which is home to the Dali Museum. This museum was design and built by Spain's surrealist painter, Salvador Dali. This museum celebrates this famous surrealist painter by displaying examples of his paintings and sculptures.
